Black Trauma And Quarantine

Listen Later

It has been a long sixty-four plus days of the Covid19 quarantine and so much of America has been exposed. The unjust justice system, the racism, the broken political system, and the privilege of white America.  It's all just a mess.
We have watched on video a black man getting hunted and shot down all because he was jogging and supposedly looking through a construction site with zero accountability for the two men responsible. We read about a woman being shot eight times in her own home because the Kentucky police are so incompetent and racist they led a brigade of men NOT to bring a suspect in for justice but to shoot down a man who was a suspect. They had the wrong apartment, the wrong apartment complex and the actual suspect had been apprehended hours ago. We watched live footage of white people marching while fully armored with machine guns, yelling at police officers, and threatening state workers YET not a single body was thrown to the ground, not a single body arrested...the police stood there and took the abuses yet we all watched how they responded to Black Lives Matters marchers. These sixty-four plus days have shown a lot and many of us are feeling emotionally drained, emotionally abused, and emotionally crippled.
As a people, we preserve through a lot. We get knocked down, get up, and still manage to find happiness but we shouldn't STILL be enduring these punches, this abuse, the level of savagery inflicted on us. Black trauma is real. Therapy is needed. Self-love is not a given. We need to stand u and stand with each other because this pandemic has shown that we are all we got!!!
