In the 1800’s women were expected to depend on and obey their husbands in all things. Men assumed that a woman couldn't possibly concoct a murderous plot and manipulate others to do her bidding. They were sorely mistaken. In our oldest case yet, we explore how the social standards of the 1800's contributed to the murder of at least one innocent man.
