Black Womxn & Spirituality

Listen Later

On this episode, I speak with Nia Hamilton-Ibu (https://www.linkedin.com/in/nia-hamilton-ibu-lcsw-659212118/) about the importance of spirituality for Black womxn. Nia (LCSW) (https://www.lgbtqpsychotherapistsofcolor.com/nia-hamilton-ibu-lcsw) is a Black+ queer, genderqueer woman, Bay Area born United Statesian child of an immigrant. Shey is a life-long activist, a therapist of 20 years, an organizational wellness coach/consultant, and a ceremonial officiant. The foundation of Nia's professional ideology is that culture, community resources, and social justice are great tools of resiliency and healing in addition to the tools provided by the therapeutic field. Shey aims to support the healing of queer and trans people of color and other disenfranchised groups who are the beautiful flowers of the world and are deserving of space to grow and flourish in the garden of life.

***Pronouns: "Shey is the pronoun Nia uses. It was shey's way of collapsing she/he/they into one pronoun to honor shey’s full inner self while also centering the African Goddess divine. Nia also loves that it sounds like the name of one of shey’s favorite drag queens."
