Surprise! It’s Cult Week!

We’re back this week to discuss more of your favorite cults and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being so patient with us while we had a break last week!

Maggie is up first and, while she did research, she was still super lazy and chose not to write anything down, so bear with her while we chat about The Family and Anne Hamilton-Byrne. Anne Hamilton-Byrne was a yoga teacher turned messiah who also thought of herself as the best mother in the world. She adopted a bunch of kids and thoroughly traumatized them for many years in her cult until one of them escaped and told the police about how terrible she was.

Second, Dreia is bringing us two cults for the price of one – because Rasputin was somehow involved with two cults. While he was alive, Rasputin got involved with the hedonistic Christian cult Khlysty before quitting it and becoming involved with the Romanovs. After his death, it was rumored that a maid cut off Rasputin’s penis and made off with it. Thus, the Rasputin penis cult was formed – although the penis that was being worshipped (and sometimes eaten) may have actually just been a sea cucumber.
