IndigenousX Presents:

Blak Bias: Indigenous Media and the changing news landscape

Listen Later

For a long time, Indigenous stories were mostly reported by non-Indigenous journalists. But that seems to be changing.

A growing cohort of Indigenous journalists and the rise of the Indigenous digital content makers are making waves across both mainstream and Indigenous media. Lachlan Skinner, founder of the first Indigenous internet radio station, One Mob Radio on Gumbaynggirr country, and James Saunders, former Chief Operating Officer of IndigenousX.com.au talk about the changing Indigenous media landscape, and the new platforms and initiatives shaking things up.

*Please note, at the time of recording James Saunders was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IndigenousX.com.au but he is now the former COO.

Co-hosts: Rhianna Patrick and Madeline Hayman-Reber.

Blak Bias is a collaboration between IndigenousX.com.au, the University Technology Sydney (UTS) and 2SER Radio. It has been made possible with the support of the Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas (JNI).
