Mercy by definition is, showing compassion or forgiveness towards someone when you have the power to punish or harm them. That's exactly what God has done to us! He had the power to punish us but He didn't! He sent Jesus instead! That is what we should do to others! Show them that same mercy!

 "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy."
