What is the meaning of blessed? Christians use the words blessed and blessing more and rightfully so. Blessed is a Christian word. It is a spiritual word. It is a biblical word. It has been hijacked by our culture; many people use the word every day. 

People may talk about "blessings" in their lives, but the nonbeliever has no idea what a real blessing is, because only the child of God truly knows what it is to be blessed. So, what does it mean to be blessed? The word blessed as used by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount comes from the Greek word Makarios, which means to be happy, a self-contained happiness.

All earthly blessings are pale when compared with being conformed with the image of Christ, because in Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead. (Colossians 2:9)

Often, we are distracted with the pursuit of physical blessings not realizing that spiritual blessings command physical blessings. Jesus counsels us to “… seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33). To be blessed, we must first come into relationship with the God of Great Deeds who alone can bless. He blessed Abraham and is willing to bless anyone who comes to Him through His son Jesus.
