The Ache We Try to Baptize
There is a quiet desperation in the human heart. We want approval more than alignment, blessing more than surrender, peace without repentance. We ask God to bless what He has not been allowed to rule. Favor without obedience. Intimacy without holiness. Marriage without the cross. The question before us is not emotional—it is biblical: Can God bless what He calls us to die to?
God’s Order Is Not Arbitrary
Scripture is clear. “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification” 1 Thessalonians 4:3. God does not redefine holiness to accommodate loneliness. Grace empowers repentance, but God never baptizes rebellion. Marriage itself begins with death to self, not the pursuit of comfort. Jesus said, “Take up your cross daily” Luke 9:23. Blessing follows obedience—never the other way around.
Repentance Is Rescue, Not Rejection
To those living in fornication: God does not shame you, but He loves you too much to affirm what destroys you. Repentance is not punishment; it is mercy. To weary spouses: A difficult marriage does not exempt us from obedience, but God meets the humble with strength. Healing begins where surrender replaces pride.
A Word to the Married and the Proud
Marriage is starved more by pride than incompatibility. Husbands are commanded to love sacrificially, as Christ loved the Church Ephesians 5:25. Wives and husbands alike are called to humility before God’s order. Waiting for your spouse to change while resisting the cross yourself will leave a marriage dying at the altar.
The Blessing Lives on the Altar
God’s blessings are real, but they are altar-born. Healing comes where surrender reigns. Joy grows where repentance lives. Like Zacchaeus, we must come down from the tree of pride and compromise Luke 19:5. The blessing is not in pretending—it is in repentance.
KEY TAKEAWAY
God will not bless what He calls us to crucify—but He will restore everything repentance lays at His feet.
