I sat down and talked with Mike Battaglia of Blink Charging, learning about the advancement of EV Charging in the last year. Blink had a closed booth so they could focus on deeper dives to EV charging.
“Blink is a full service, end to end charging company” Mike tells us. “We provide all types of EV charging hardware – what we call Level 2 AC hardware, DC fast charging hardware, and we have our own software network that powers the ecosystem of chargers coast to coast.”
We talked about home EV chargers, as well as public and fleet charging. Blink showed us the AC Level 2 Series 7 charger. The USPS selected this charger for all their new fleet vehicles.
These EV charging stations can dispense up to 19.2kW (80 Amps) from each port. These ports can be accessed through the Blink mobile app, or through RFID card if it’s a fleet vehicle.
We talked about temperature of the charge since extreme cold temperatures were on the way, and summer temperatures also affect a vehicle’s battery. Mike mentioned the monitoring system within the charger, so they can detect issues and help people understand how long it’s going to take for a full charge.
