Listen Later

Good evening. Michigan. I'm Aaron Jolly.
Folks. We're staring down the barrel of a massive spring storm, it's a tale of two states this weekend. Southern Michigan gets a taste of spring with rain and thunder, while northern Michigan is bracing for a blizzard.
As the sun sets. Tonight kicks off the action, down in Detroit and the southeast, light snow arrives after 9 P.M. You might see a dusting before it changes over, temperatures sit at 33 degrees. It feels like 23 out there, so Dress warmly if you're heading out.
West Michigan sees snow showers before 4 A.M., expect a quick coating of snow. Then, a changeover to rain is likely by Sunday morning, grand Rapids tops out near 62 degrees Sunday.
Moving on. But the real story is up north, while a Blizzard Warning is in effect for the western Upper Peninsula. Heavy snow starts after 11 P.M., expect 3 to 5 inches of fresh powder by morning. Winds gusting to 45 miles an hour will create whiteout conditions, if you're traveling near Iron or Dickinson counties.
Temperature-wise. Sunday brings wild swings, southeast Michigan hits 63 degrees. That's well above normal, you'll see gusty winds and a chance for thunderstorms Sunday night.
In Northern Michigan, snow mixes with sleet and freezing rain, while then, it changes to rain by afternoon. Highs only reach 36 degrees, travel will be treacherous through Monday.
Looking ahead. Monday brings a sharp reality check, while rain changes back to snow statewide. Temperatures crash into the 20s, west Michigan could see another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation. By Tuesday, highs only reach the 20s, it will feel like January returned.
Here's your heads-up for the week ahead, while we stay chilly and unsettled. Expect highs in the 30s with a chance of snow showers Wednesday, sunshine finally returns by next Saturday.
See you tomorrow.
