"U.S. soldier Frank Dux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) has come to Hong Kong to be accepted into the Kumite, a highly secret and extremely violent martial-arts competition. While trying to gain access into the underground world of clandestine fighters, he also has to avoid military officers who consider him to be AWOL. After enduring a difficult training and beginning a romance with journalist Janice Kent (Leah Ayres), Frank is given the opportunity to fight. But can he survive?"
Let's be Frank, shut up and just put up our Dux! 1988's "Bloodsport" starring Jean Claude Van Damme is definitely fun and cool enough to watch over and over again BUT how much of it was actually true though?? The ONLY source to confirm or deny anything that actually happened in his IRL Kumite ... is him: Frank W. Dux!!
Was this whole "Kumite" business FOR REAL for real or just based off 1 man's VERY overly-creative imagination running wild? Did JCVD really need to bulk up because he was supposedly "too small" to look convincing as Frank Dux?? IF THE 4TH UNWRITTEN RULE OF KUMITE WAS TO WIN VIA RING OUT, WHY WOULDN'T YOU JUST GET TO TOSSING EVERYONE OUT AND THROW EVERY FIGHT THAT WAY???
If the CIA can neither confirm nor deny IRL Frank Dux's whole story, then goddammit, he MIGHT actually be telling the truth AND MORE on "Bloodsport" - 35th Anniversary Review - EP 66 of "¿Who Diss Been Watching?" !!!!
