Amy was born to teen parents who joined a cult-like Christian sect when she was a baby. Growing up restricted from music and pop-culture made it difficult to fit in outside the church. Fitting in within the church was just as difficult. However, the fear of leaving, and what might happen if she did, kept her believing the oppressive "rapture" narrative--until things just didn't make sense anymore.

Born in 1975 into the Children of God cult, Monique is the eldest of 13 siblings, child labor in the form of begging on the streets, public performances & hard labor, she lived a transient life, traveling the world inside the international cult. Backsliding at 19 years old, with her 2 week old baby girl, she received her GED and started on an education path immediately. Being able to access therapy programs and self-care, she successfully completed a 17 year career in the biopharmaceutical industry. In 2014, Monique began launching entrepreneurial businesses and philanthropic programs as a Thriver, seeking to assist others on their own path out of exploitation, human trafficking and cults.
