This week, Nick, Blue Jean Operator, joins Mitch to chat about his time as an Army Ranger. The lads dive into their varying experiences training and getting hazed in Ranger and Airborne training respectively, trolling classmates on the Q land nav course, Mitch shares a story of a young soldier finding themselves so lost doing land nav they trekked two days off-base alone and had to be found by helicopter and how much the Ranger experience differs from regular ‘big Army’. Mitch and Nick also get into how Airsoft is a fantastic tool for practicing ambushes and use of night vision, Nick’s positive experiences attending and later working for Milsim West, the importance of maintaining great security at all times in the field, translating military doctrine for civilians, the most miserable week of Mitch’s life, how it’s nearly impossible to NOT make it through basic training these days, Nick shares how he was blown up during a deployment fighting ISIS-K when he was hit by a grenade, the lads talk coming to terms with medical retirement, making sense of the poorly defined ’mission’ in Afghanistan and much more!
