NYCFC need a mental break. The team is in its own head. Head Coach, Pascal Jansen, and midfielder, Johhny Shore, both shared those thoughts after the 2-2 draw from Atlanta. Luckily for the players and the coaching staff alike, MLS is off for international break and this might just be the pause that the team needs to get their mojo back and be competitive for the remaining eight games of the season.

This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. diBart share their views on what can help improve the mood and the results for the team.

The season started with so much hope and promise. A full preseason with Jansen, a stable roster, and the anticipation of new additions. Then the injuries happened. Then the dropped points started to add up. Then the realization hit that this could be one of the worst point totals in NYCFC history.

Then to add insult to injury, the club signs former Red Bull defender Matt Miazga.

Streaks happen in sports. It is part of the cycle of a season. NYCFC can only hope that the victory on Saturday is a pivotal moment for the remainder of their season with only nine games remaining and the team clinging to a playoff position.

The most surprising part of this week's episode is the fact that JR grew up inside a bubble that isolated him from Dolly Parton. The legendary singer passed away on Tuesday afternoon before the episode was recorded. Obviously the other two hosts were stunned by the revelation, but the show carried on with discussion on NYCFC player and former player rumors. Then the trio talk about the results from the past week which resulted in NYCFC earning one point out of six on the road again Cincinnatti and New England.

If there is a consistent theme for NYCFC in 2026 it is dropping points at home. In just under half of their eleven home games this season, NYCFC have dropped points in five of those matches.

The team is still fighting its way back through some key injuries and quite honestly, is a completely different team post World Cup, but the trend in results remain the same. NYCFC is a mid-table team at best and will remain there until they get healthy.

This week the guys look back at the Leagues Cup match versus Necaxa and the MLS regular season match against the Philadelphia Union.

NYCFC played their first two Leagues Cup matches this past week and with the result from Sunday, they are not likely to advance regardless of the result from Thursday's game.
