A 40-foot vessel caught fire in Pittwater east of Lion Island, producing massive plumes of smoke visible from Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park. The boat capsized approximately one hour after reports of the blaze came in just before 2pm. All four people aboard were rescued uninjured by a passing boat before the vessel went under.
