In part 5 of our tribute to Bob Dole we look back at the war injury that left him disabled. We hear from him and from his close friend and fellow Senator, Dan Inouye, about his hard scrabble fight back to health. Dole spent 39 months in Army hospitals regaining his health after his act of heroism trying to save his radio man, Corporal Simms.
We then hear Bob Dole talk about his efforts to build the World War 2 Memorial and how proud he was of the Memorial that now stands on the National Mall for generations to come and remember the high cost of freedom. We will get to hear Bod Bole's address from the day the Memorial was opened to the public.
Then we will take one last look back at the extraordinary life that his inspired so many Americans, including me, into working for the greater good of the greatest country on Earth, The United States of America.
