Today I caught up with an old friend. Vinh Nguyen is a Kinjaz member, an alumni Director/member of SGBM, alumni dancer of Urban Fx and Future Shock SD. He started his career in SD and is now an International Choreographer.

The Kinjaz are a collective of some of the top Asian American urban choreo dancers from our Community. You've seen their performances on WOD and ABDC. They are also actively putting out some dope choreography/ videos thanks to Gerald Nonato (VIBRANCY MEDIA)!!! The Kinjaz are the leaders of a new generation of dancers and still remain the homies. With members rooted in Kaba Modern, PAC Modern, The Company, CADC, GRV to name just a few - they have a bond and brotherhood that deserves to be celebrated. They open up about their origin stories | WOD moments | their experience on the group| urban choreo vs hip hop and life lessons for younger dancers. So dope to be able to share with them. experience growing up in Hip Hop culture as well as shared tips

for aspiring young Dj's. He had a unique perspective on the role

culture and ethnicity play in his life. I appreciated the dialogue

because of the identity crisis I also feel when speaking on my

love for hip hop music/dance. It was awesome to hear Mane

articulate his viewpoint so confidently ...especially with the

racial tensions we are experiencing nowadays.

choreographer, and dancer from Vancouver, Canada. His team "24/7"

is the current Body Rock Dance Competition Champion. He also

directs the all star / all male company "The Faculty". In this chat,

we about his early influences and what led him to the career he has

today. He also shares what the Canadian dance scene was like

as well as his experience in the USA. Lots of laughs and some

career as a Nike Fitness Elite. She fell in love with hip hop dance in

the late 80's/early 90's and spearheaded the first hip hop dance class

at Mesa College. She also used this platform along with her sponsor

ship by Nike to create the first nonprofit hip hop dance troupe -

Culture Shock. Culture Shock has spread nationally and at one time

was International. The professional organization also mentors youth

teams called Future, Mighty, and Mini Shock.
