Listen Later

Come on in as we invte Coach Andrew Ellison in for  a seat on The Couch Poatato Sports Show.
Andrew and Coach will talk about Kid Shamrock,a realistic sports play based on the life and career of Long Island's Bobby Cassidy Sr. The play it's self  gained notoriety because of it's authenticity. "The boxing scenes may well be the best-choreographed fight action ever seen on a New York stage, on or off-Broadway," wrote the Irish Times in a 2011 review.
The reason is because half the cast is made up of former world-class professional boxers. Among them are Mark Breland (Olympic gold medalist, two-time welterweight champ), John Duddy (IBA middleweight champ), Seamus McDonagh (fought Evander Holyfield), Mark McPherson (world-ranked junior middleweight) and Junior Jones (five-time champ).
It is directed by former heavyweight champ Michael Bentt.
In 1963, Cassidy, from Levittown, Long Island, New York, scored a one-punch, 39-second knockout in his professional debut at Sunnyside Garden. He went on to compile a ring record of 59 wins, 16 losses, three draws, one no contest and 27 knockouts.
