"If you're constantly putting on a happy face, your team members and friends may not know, may not be able to trust you. They may feel like you're not being honest about your feelings and experiences. Third, it prevents you from building resilience. Resilience is what allows us to bounce back from setbacks and difficult experiences. By numbing ourselves to negative emotions, we're not giving ourselves this opportunity. Fourth, it can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms."
