Body Image, Self-Worth and Tennis Players: A Coach's Responsibility
This is Episode 35 of Beyond Top 10 Tennis as the relevance of the World Cup and Australia's Matilda's deliver key lessons on a player's self-worth before we share important insights on the coach education system void of core topics that affect boys and girls around the world for parents to be conscious of and for coaches to take greater responsibility. A question is asked around data before the 80/20 rule is touched on and how 'pressure to perform' often takes precedence over the 'whole athlete' and the detrimental impact. We then take a look at the power tussle in the coach-athlete dynamic and the need to foster safe environments -- away from school (for the developmental players) before wrapping up on empowering players/athletes and building more confident and resilient players opposed to seeing players/athletes that walk away from the game they love.
