BoE and ECB Hold as S&P 500 Breaks 7,200 for the First Time

On today's episode of Market Brief – After Hours, the S&P 500 closes above 7,200 for the first time in history as the Bank of England holds rates at 3.75% and the ECB keeps all rates unchanged, while US GDP prints at 2.0% for Q1, below the 2.3% consensus. The Nasdaq posts its best April since 2020 and the Dow its strongest month since November 2024, even as Core PCE comes in at 3.2% and keeps Federal Reserve pressure in the picture. We also cover Qualcomm and Alphabet surging on earnings, Meta and Microsoft selling off sharply, and a dramatic USD/JPY reversal that fell 2.41% to 156.56.
