Publisher's Summary:
They were enemies in a divided land.
Saxon beauty Caryn of Ivesham longed to escape the chill gray cloisters of the convent to which she'd fled - but not in marriage to the towering, feared Raolfe de Gere, the Norman knight they called Ral the Relentless. Even though he had once saved her from a fate worse than death, she could not forget he'd raised the grim battlements of Braxton Keep on her dead father's lands or that his men had dishonored her sister. If she wed him to bring peace to her people, he would have to lay siege to her bed.
Will their love conquer all - or destroy them both?
The darkly handsome warlord's blood coursed with desire for Caryn's burnished crimson lips, and his passion would not be denied. But in the wild ecstasy they shared, Ral feared more than his heart was in danger. Could his rebellious bride be a traitor deadlier than the wolves and brigands prowling deep in English forests?

Great read!!!
I liked this book very much. The hero was a jerk, but the heroine was to blame because she shunned his good efforts from the beginning. The hero was your typical male chauvinist from medieval times because of his past experience with a betrothed he really loved. The heroine was an absolute n airhead who continued to betray, berate and humiliate him at every turn only because she assumed he did some evil against her mentally unclassified sister, when what he really did was save their lives. No woman deserves to be hit, but the heroine was very passive aggressive in several circumstances and provoked the hero at every turn. He did go to his mistress the first time because the heroine gave him any other choice, but the second time he went to his mistress was unwarranted. However, this was an amazing read and I would DEFINATELY RECOMMEND it. It was worth every cent I paid for this book.
Five Stars
the book was like a new book
Found Kat Martin again.
Just finished this book. I discovered Kat Martin again.
I always read her books but got discouraged with a few, stopped reading for awhile.
Thought I would give it a go again and I am not disappointed.
Great book, story not so new. Hero does not trust heroine and vice versa but they work it out in the end. The interaction between the characters makes it a very enjoyable read.
wonderful story
I loved every bit of this story. This story is one that draws you in making you feel happy when caryn is happy. Or you may feel frustrated or angry at all of the emotional twists that never seem to end. But, it's a well planned book with twists you don't see coming and then you realize you never would've seen it coming ha.
It was an enjoyable read with a happy ending.
This book is consistent with Martin's writing style. She mixes romance and intrigue to the most satisfying levels. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to read historical romances with an edge to them.
