What does it look like to live a faith that stands firm when culture changes, truth is challenged, and obedience costs something?
In this episode of the Bold Faith Now podcast, Missy chats with author and historian Rebecca Price Janney about her Heirs of Freedom series and how historical fiction can remind us that while the culture around us may change, God's truth never does.
Rebecca shares how her love of history shapes her writing, why accuracy matters when bringing the past to life, and how the spiritual struggles Christians faced more than a century ago aren't all that different from what believers face today.
In this episode, Missy and Rebecca discuss:
Why the challenges to biblical truth in the early 1900s feel surprisingly familiar today
How Rebecca's own seminary experiences helped shape Jacob's struggle with faith in In the Land of the Morning Calm
What Shelby and Parker teach us about following God when obedience means leaving comfort behind
How one faithful life can influence generations and why God can use ordinary people to make an extraordinary difference
Rebecca also shares the heart behind the Heirs of Freedom series, the importance of passing faith and freedom from one generation to the next, and why she is hopeful about what God is doing among young adults today.
Remember to live boldly for Jesus and let your light shine bright for Him!

Missy and Angie also talk about Angie's Bible study, Cast Your Cares: Recognizing and Speaking to Anxiety, and what 1 Peter 5 teaches us about anxiety, surrender, and recognizing the enemy's lies.
In this episode, Missy and Angie discuss:
Why learning to study the Bible for yourself helps you recognize God's voice, promises, and character
How to move past the intimidation of feeling like you don't know enough to study Scripture
Angie's simple Step-by-Step Method for digging deeper into one word and one verse at a time
Why casting our cares on God helps us surrender what we were never meant to carry alone

What does it look like to find joy in suffering when God doesn't change your circumstances?
In this episode of the Bold Faith Now podcast, Missy chats with Lara Silverman, author of Singing Through the Fire, host of the Singing Through Fire podcast, and a former federal prosecutor whose life changed dramatically when a rare neurological illness left her bedridden.
Lara shares how God has sustained her through the loss of her health, her dream career, and her husband, Matt, and how He has taught her that His grace is truly sufficient. Her story reminds us that joy doesn't mean ignoring grief or pretending suffering doesn't hurt. It means learning to trust that God is still present, still working, and still worthy of our praise in the middle of it.
In this episode, Missy and Lara discuss:
Why Christians need a biblical understanding of suffering before difficult seasons come
How God can use suffering to bring Him glory and advance the Gospel
The danger of believing that unanswered healing means someone does not have enough faith
How Lara learned to experience real joy while grieving tremendous loss
Why God's grace is sufficient, even when circumstances do not change
Lara also shares how God redeemed skills from the legal career she lost and is now using them through writing, podcasting, interviewing others, and sharing the Gospel from her own home.
Her encouragement for anyone walking through a difficult season is simple but powerful: do not overwhelm yourself by looking too far ahead. Trust God for the grace you need today and cling to His strength moment by moment.

What if the everyday work you do inside your home is actually kingdom work?
In this episode of the Bold Faith Now podcast, Missy chats with Gina Romero, author of Welcome Home: A Guide to Homemaking from the Heart and founder of Welcome Home by Gina. Gina shares how God unexpectedly called her from corporate America into a ministry centered on biblical homemaking, and why she believes our homes can be one of the most important places to live out our faith.
In this episode, Missy and Gina discuss:
Why homemaking is about much more than keeping a clean or beautiful house
How wives and mothers can view their homes and families as kingdom work
Why family meals and intentional time together can create opportunities for discipleship
How Sabbath rest helps us surrender our schedules and responsibilities to God
Gina also talks about moving beyond Pinterest-perfect expectations and finding purpose in the ordinary work of caring for our homes and families.
She reminds us that even when our work feels unnoticed or unfinished, God sees it all. Whether you are raising young children, working outside the home, juggling responsibilities, or walking through a different season entirely, the work God has placed before you matters.
Sometimes bold faith looks like faithfully doing the ordinary things right in front of us and trusting God to use them for His kingdom.

What happens when fear blurs the truth of God's Word?
In this episode of the Bold Faith Now podcast, Missy chats with award-winning Christian fiction author Jaime Jo Wright about writing fiction novels that aren't afraid to explore darkness, fear, and uncertainty while still pointing readers toward the hope and truth found in Jesus.
In this episode, Missy and Jaime discuss:
Why Gothic storytelling draws Jaime and how she uses it to guide readers toward the light of Christ
How The Bookshop of 99 Doors explores fear, uncertainty, and what happens when we lose sight of unchanging truth
What bold faith looks like for a Christian novelist writing about topics that may stretch readers outside their comfort zones
Why Christians need to stay grounded in Scripture as they engage with books, entertainment, culture, and conflicting ideas about truth
This conversation reminds us that while stories may lead us through dark and uncertain places, God's truth remains steady. As Christ-followers, we don't have to fear hard questions when we know where to turn for answers.

What if the battle for peace, joy, and contentment begins with what we allow to shape our minds?
In this episode of the Bold Faith Now podcast, Missy chats with author and podcaster Kelsey Gjesdal about her new 60-day study, Mindset: Learning to Live with the Mind of Christ. Through the book of Philippians, Kelsey encourages readers to exchange anxiety, overthinking, and perfectionism for the truth and peace found in Christ.
In this episode, Missy and Kelsey discuss
Why renewing our minds with God's Word is a process, not a quick fix
How knowing God's character helps us trust Him when our emotions tell us otherwise
What Philippians teaches us about joy, peace, contentment, and anxiety
Kelsey's heart for using fiction, nonfiction, and podcasting to point Gen Z toward Jesus
Our circumstances can change quickly, but Jesus never does. Kelsey reminds us that the peace, joy, and contentment we seek are found when we fix our eyes on Christ and ground our thoughts in the truth of God's Word.

Do you ever struggle to believe what God says about who you are?
In this episode of the Bold Faith Now podcast, Missy chats with author and Christian life coach Anne Wooten about her book, The Red Letter Code: A 31-Day Journey Unlocking the Blueprint to Your Identity in Christ, and how the words of Jesus can help us replace the lies we believe with God's truth.
Anne shares her journey of leaving a 50-year career in accounting when God called her into something new, even though she didn't know what would come next. Together, Missy and Anne talk about people-pleasing, the inner critic, renewing our minds with Scripture, and what it looks like to give God our "messy yes" before we have all the answers.
In this episode, Missy and Anne discuss:
Why knowing our identity in Christ and believing it can be two different things
How God's Word helps us replace lies with truth
What it means to give God our "messy yes" before we have clarity
Why one small step of obedience can help us move forward in faith
Fear, people-pleasing, and the inner critic can keep us stuck in lies about who we are. Anne reminds us that when we renew our minds with God's Word and remember our identity in Christ, we can move forward with greater trust, surrender, and bold faith.

In this episode of Bold Faith Now, Missy talks with author, editor, adoptive mom, and foster care advocate Katie Cruice Smith about the beautiful and sometimes difficult journey of adoption and foster care.
Katie shares how God redirected her dream of motherhood after years of infertility and ultimately grew her family through the adoption of three biological siblings. She also challenges the church to look beyond labels and circumstances and see every child as someone created by God, loved by Him, and worthy of welcome and support.
Katie also shares the incredible story behind her children's book, Why Did You Choose Me?, which began as an essay she wrote while applying for an adoption grant.
