Alligator Ron Bergeron on Responsible Growth, Protecting the Everglades, and Why It's Never Development vs. Conservation...
They call him a living legend in South Florida - and the story behind how he became "Alligator Ron" is worth the listen on its own. Ron Bergeron built an empire from $235 and a tractor, then spent the rest of his life fighting to protect the Everglades ecosystem he grew up in. In this episode of Bold Xchange, he makes the case that development and conservation were never supposed to be opposing sides - real progress happens when both come together to build communities that last. It's the same principle behind everything he's built: from sawgrass to seagrass, nothing works unless the whole system does.

From apprentice to executive - the trades career nobody told you was possible...
September is National Tradesman Month - a time to recognize the electricians, roofers, plumbers, carpenters, and mechanics who build and maintain the world most of us take for granted. Bold Xchange is taking that recognition further - because a moment of appreciation is not enough.
One woman walked into a male-dominated trade in New York when no one expected her to stay — and spent 40 years proving them wrong. Master Electrician Jessica Garcia wired Radio City Music Hall and the Twin Towers. One man started on a rooftop at 20 with a shingle and a work ethic — and climbed every rung of the industry before reaching the executive suite. David Baytosh went from pre-apprentice to Vice President of South Florida Roofing at Advanced Roofing in Fort Lauderdale.
Neither of them took the path they were told to take. And the careers they built cannot be outsourced, automated, or replaced by artificial intelligence. In a world where technology is disrupting everything, the skilled trades remain the most essential, most resilient, and most overlooked career path in America.
In this episode of Bold Xchange, they share the unfiltered version of that journey - and make the case that the skilled trades are not a fallback. They are a launchpad.

Leading the nation’s 6th largest school district to transform education for a world that won’t wait..
The world today's students are graduating into looks nothing like the one their teachers grew up in - and it's changing faster every year. Dr. Howard Hepburn leads Broward County Public Schools, the nation's 6th largest school district, and he's not waiting for that shift to force his hand. In this fireside chat, Laurie Sallarulo sits down with Hepburn for a no-script conversation about what it actually takes to lead 250,000 students through a world in motion - where AI fits into the classroom, when to hold steady and when to move fast, and why he believes no district can prepare kids for what's next without the right partners standing beside it.

Last summer, Emack & Bolio's Ice Cream welcomed a Junior Achievement intern. At the end of the summer, instead of saying goodbye, they offered her a job. Today, she's training the next JA intern.
In this episode of Bold Xchange, Laurie Sallarulo sits down with the business owner who took a chance, the former intern who turned an opportunity into a career, and the current intern just beginning her journey.
Together, they talk honestly about what makes an internship meaningful, what employers are really looking for, how young people can stand out, and why giving someone their first opportunity can change a life—and a business.
Released in recognition of National Intern Day, this conversation is a reminder that internships aren't just about filling summer positions. They're about building tomorrow's workforce.

What happens when education stops teaching for tests and starts preparing students for life?
The questions keeping students up at night - Am I ready? What comes next? Will I make it? - are the same ones employers are asking about them. In this episode, Laurie Sallarulo sits down with Dr. Angela Fulton of Broward County Public Schools and Tom Milana of Transworld Business Advisors to explore 3DE by Junior Achievement, the high school model that's closing the gap between education and employment by replacing hypothetical assignments with real companies, real business challenges, and real-world skills. They'll dig into why the old playbook isn't enough anymore, and how bold partnerships between schools and business are building the workforce pipeline from the inside out. Because the future of education isn't just about what students know - it's about what they can do with it. Listen in…
