If grace has been undermined in a believers’ mind, self is all that is left – all we can do then is hope in our own resources. When failure comes then the only conclusion anyone can draw is “Maybe I don’t really belong to Christ”. And if we never really known we become a pawn in the hand of the enemy. We will be forever plagued by doubts about our worthiness before a holy God. Few things in life will undermine grace in the believers mind than trusting in works and failing.
