We’re building Bonded Fields for our family—but we never want to become so busy building it that we miss the people we’re building it for.
In this short and personal episode, Jim reflects on making time for family, being present for the moments that matter, and remembering that some farm chores can wait.
This is FAMILY FIRST—Episode 15 of the Bonded Fields Podcast, where faith, family, and the land come together.
🐥 42 CHICKS—ARE WE READY?
We ordered 40 Cornish Cross chicks from Townline Hatchery, and they included two extras. All 42 arrived alive and well!
This is much bigger than our first five-bird trial. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be raising these birds to help provide homegrown chicken for seven households—and documenting the real work, lessons and expenses along the way.
Watch Episode 14 of the Bonded Fields Podcast as we begin the journey from the brooder to the freezer.
Could you handle raising 42 meat birds at once?

What started as a few chickens and a garden is becoming something much bigger. 🌱🐓🐇
More egg customers. Rabbits. Meat birds. A growing garden. New opportunities. And plans for infrastructure we never imagined needing this soon.
Bonded Fields is growing—and with growth comes responsibility.
So now we have to ask ourselves a serious question…
ARE WE READY? 👀
In Episode 13 of From Pastor to Pastures, I’m sitting down solo to talk about where Bonded Fields started, where we are now, and what it means to steward the opportunities that are opening in front of us.
Maybe the question isn’t, “How big can Bonded Fields become?”
Maybe it’s, “How faithful can we be with what Bonded Fields is becoming?” 🙏🏾🌱

After 23 hours of labor, the wait is finally over. ❤️
On August 13, 2026, our family welcomed our first grandson—and the next generation of Bonded Fields officially arrived. 🌱
This week didn't go exactly as we expected, and because of some complications, there are parts of this journey we're keeping private for now. We aren't able to share photos of our little man just yet, but we can share something pretty special…
His first footprints. 👣
We've said from the beginning that Bonded Fields is about building something that lasts beyond us. Something our children—and one day our grandchildren—can enjoy, learn from, and hopefully carry forward.
Well…
The next generation now has a set of footprints. 👣💚💛
Welcome to the family, little man. Grandpa and Grandma already love you more than you know.

🌱 THE REBUILD BEGINS!
We said we were done tilling… now it’s time to build! 🙌🏾
After clearing out the old garden, we’re officially starting our new NO-TILL garden at Bonded Fields. We laid down the paper, brought in the compost and soil, and started building our first beds.
We didn’t get the entire garden finished—and we knew we probably wouldn’t. This is a BIG project, and we’re taking it one bed at a time.
But seeing those first beds come together made all that work worth it. 💚
This is our first time building a garden this way, so we’re learning as we go, making adjustments, and bringing you along for the entire journey.
The old garden is gone. The rebuild has officially begun. 🌱
🎥 Episode 11 is up now!

🍃 Sometimes God Changes the Schedule…
This week didn't go as planned.
We stepped away from the garden to attend a church conference, and while our hands weren't in the soil, our hearts were being refreshed.
It's easy to get frustrated when plans change, projects get delayed, or life interrupts what we thought we were supposed to accomplish. But we've learned that God's timing is always better than our own.
The no-till beds are still waiting.
The fall seedlings are next.
The work isn't canceled—it's just been rescheduled.
Join us as we talk about balancing faith, family, work, and the homestead, and why sometimes the most important growth happens before we ever plant a seed.
🌱 Because at Bonded Fields, faith comes first—and the land will still be there tomorrow.
👇 Have you ever had God change your plans for something even better? We'd love to hear your story in the comments.

Our summer garden served its purpose, but it was time for a reset. 🌱This week, we started clearing out the old to make room for something better—a permanent no-till garden that we believe will transform the way we grow food at Bonded Fields. We didn't finish everything we planned, and that's okay.In the middle of the work, family drove almost two hours to tour the farm, learn about our no-till plans, rotational grazing, and the vision behind Bonded Fields. It was a reminder that this journey is about more than gardens—it's about sharing what we're learning, encouraging others, and building community.Sometimes the most important work isn't checking another project off the list. It's investing in people. The reset has begun, and we're excited to take you along as we build something that will serve our family—and hopefully inspire yours—for years to come.💬 Have you ever had to tear something down so you could build something better?👇 We'd love to hear your story in the comments.#BondedFields #TimeToReset #NoTillGardening #HomesteadLife #Homesteading #RegenerativeAgriculture #GardenReset #GrowYourOwnFood #FaithFamilyLand #FromPastorToPastures #AlabamaHomestead #YouTubeCreator
We're making one of the biggest changes since starting Bonded Fields.
After months of tilling, battling weeds, learning from our mistakes, and researching healthier ways to grow, we've decided it's time to transition our main garden to a no-till/no-dig system.
In this episode, we're sharing:
🌱 Why we're making the change
🌱 The pros and cons of tilling vs. no-till
🌱 What we've learned so far
🌱 Our plan for building healthier soil for years to come
We're not claiming to have all the answers—we're simply documenting the journey and inviting you to learn alongside us.
Have you made the switch to no-till? We'd love to hear what worked, what didn't, and any advice you'd give us as we begin this next chapter.

🚜🐓 Moving Day at Bonded Fields!
Today we're moving our chickens to a fresh paddock as part of our rotational grazing system. It may seem like a simple chore, but it's one of the best ways we can care for both our flock and our land.
Fresh pasture means happier chickens, healthier soil, fewer parasite issues, and time for the grass to recover. It's a reminder that good stewardship isn't about doing one big thing—it's about making small, intentional decisions day after day.
We're learning that healthy land produces healthy animals, and healthy animals help build healthy land. Everything on the homestead is connected.
🌱 Do you rotate your chickens, or are they in a permanent run? We'd love to hear what works for you!
If you're enjoying our journey, follow @BondedFields as we share what we're learning about faith, family, and homesteading—one step at a time.
