It's another BONUS MOVIE EPISODE of the pod this week, with Jane making Kurt watch 1995 sepia-toned nostalgia-machine Now and Then. In the ep we discuss the unused potential of a flashback structure, 'coming-of-age' vs teenage liminality and just how UNFAIR and SEXIST it is that Stand By Me is recognised as a cinematic classic, while Now and Then is considered overly-nostalgic and girly. Internalised misogyny, everyone. Turns out it very much exists in the film industry. Also featured - a lengthy discussion about Star Wars: The Last Jedi (about six months late, we know)
Movie: Now and Then
Rating: 2 Eyes (Kurt)
What are we watching: Pacifists Guide to the War on Cancer (Bryony Kimmings and Complicite) & RISE (Stan)
Date recorded: 18 March 2018
