This past Tuesday, November 6th, I finally got a chance to it down with chef Michael Symon. If you are a fan of this show, you know I have been "efforting" him for well over 2 years. He is the owner of Mabel's BBQ here in town and I figured at the time he opened (2016) I would have a fairly easy shot to grab him for an interview...WRONG!
Busy doing The Chew, Food Network stuff, writing books and life in general kept him a "white whale" of sorts for me. However, a few weeks back, through the use of Twitter, I was able to schedule a meet with him and we were finally able do the interview in person. It was a great experience for me. He is like you imagine...funny, engaging and genuine! I think that comes across in this interview. Remember, in the grand scheme of things I am a nobody...but he never made me feel like that, in fact, quite the opposite! I felt welcomed, empowered and respected.
