This new body of work seeks to encapsulate features of the Southwest that are both dramatic, and unique to the region in a series of large and medium format paintings. One can expect to see a suite of paintings that includes deep canyons, isolated buttes, winding rivers, desert cacti and archeological wonders. Admired for a distinct graphic style in which light renders the landscape and its formations majestic, Doug West has earned his reputation as one of the most distinguished painters of the Southwest landscape. West captures each masterfully constructed scene with crisp clarity, distilling it down to include only the most vital visual information. His original oil paintings retain the striking graphic quality inspired by his earlier experiences as a serigraph printmaker.
