As a first-generation Latina, Dr. Brenda Galvez believes that education is important for social and economic mobility and that it is critical for individuals to invest in their communities. She works towards increasing access to under-represented communities in areas of higher education, financial literacy, and self-advocacy. In this special TCA sponsored bonus series, Dr. Galvaz shares her research on diversity and access in visual and performing arts (VAPA) majors at research institutions, especially given her most recent position in the School of Music at UCLA as Associate Director of Advising and Scholarships where she connected music students to campus resources.
