What an absolutely fantastic way to end the year, with my mom buckling under my pressure to join me on the pod! Patti is wise and funny and beautiful, all things I want to be when I grow up. She won’t be the first to say it, so I will: The woman is a legend. For forty years, she nurtured a family, a marriage, a home, and a deep faith while also flourishing in a career as a professional violinist. These days, when I think about all the things she balanced, it makes me instantly tired and in need of a robust nap. My mom has been married to my dad for 51 years, and they have taught me all I know about loving each other well and still laughing like teenagers after decades together.
