Heavy is the head that wears the fedora with a little paper tucked into the band bearing the word “PRESS.” As members of the media élite and professional theatre critics, Will and Jimmy feel that heavy weight of responsibility to their readers, the burden of integrity. In a perfect world, all plays would be tours de force, and all performances would end in standing ovation. But sometimes plays bomb, and sometimes it is Free the Show’s responsibility, nay, Duty to really razz on them. This week we saw two paired one-act plays at The Flea, an immersive theatrical haunted house in Harlem, and a dance circus piece in Bushwick. We only liked one of these four experiences. We get to really rip some of these bad boys apart, and we don’t feel good about doing it, but that’s our cross to bear, our crown of thorns. Listen to find out which one we liked!
