On Monday, January 8, 2024, the Virginia State Police, FBI Norfolk and the Hampton, Virginia Police Department announced that the Edwards/Knobling case had been solved as a result of a DNA match and a Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) rape kit test.
