This morning cracked me open. A dismissive text from a ghost of my past, another laced with guilt I never owned, and suddenly my nervous system shattered like porcelain against a cinder block wall. Tears I don’t usually cry came hot and unrelenting — anger, sadness, frustration, ache, overwhelm all colliding at once.
In the middle of it, my Sacred Shower DJ became an oracle: Beer and Sunshine, Margaritaville, Homegrown, Great Day to Be Alive, Tennessee Whiskey, Dirt Road Anthem. Each song spoke, each one preached — a sermon in six tracks that carried me from collapse into reclamation.
This is the story of the first day in my new skin, the moment the old me burned away and I finally took my heart back. Raw, tear-streaked, unpolished, but mine.
