After almost 52 years, Burlington Police Department just announced this morning that Vermont's oldest cold case murder has finally been solved!

In 1971, 24-year-old schoolteacher Rita Curran was found beaten, raped and strangled to death on her bedroom floor in Burlington, Vermont.

Today, on February 21st, 2023, her killer has officially been identified and her case closed.
