Arriving in the United States at age 18 from the former Soviet Union with no money, no connections, and not a word of English, Max Emma embodies the ultimate entrepreneurial journey. Determined to forge his own path, he worked his way through college, graduating with honors in finance before briefly stepping into corporate life. Soon after, he joined his family’s modest landscaping business and scaled it to 96 employees—until the 2008-2009 financial crisis hit, leaving him bankrupt and forced to re-evaluate everything he’d built.
This setback became the catalyst for a new mission: ensuring that business owners have clear, timely financials so they never experience what he did. Out of that purpose, BooXkeeping was born. Today, the company is a nationally recognized bookkeeping provider serving over 100 franchise brands across all 50 states. Inspired by this growth and the entrepreneurs around him, Max expanded into franchising, empowering others to become successful business owners themselves. He also founded a franchise brokerage, guiding aspiring entrepreneurs to the right franchise opportunities—at no cost to them.
When he isn’t driving business success, Max travels extensively (46 countries and counting), reads voraciously, enjoys live theater, and makes time for family, fitness, great friends, and the occasional single malt scotch paired with a Cuban cigar.
