I’ve now read the first 500 pages of Diarmaid MacCulloch’s A History of Christianity and wanted to share some thoughts. This part of the book covers the early beginnings of Christianity—from its roots in Judaism and the Roman world to the rise of the personality cult around Jesus. It’s a very interesting read. MacCulloch explains how Christianity spread, changed, and was shaped by different cultures and ideas. This review is my take on what I’ve learned so far, even though as 20 minute episode dont do justice to 500 pages.
