By now you likely have a great deal of experience with using the verb "to be" in the passive voice. Today I'd like to dig a bit deeper.

Remember, we use the passive voice when we want to focus on the receiver of the action, instead of the doer. We might do this because the actor in the sentence is not important, or perhaps because it is vague or unknowable.
