Bookable Space with Nimbilasha Cushing

Listen Later

In this episode of Bookable Space, we're joined by Nimbilasha Cushing reading from Come This Way, There is an Exit.

This is part one of a two-part episode.

About the book

The story of growing up in the South as a sharecropper in the 1950's.

A deeply-felt account of the girlhood of an African-American, Nibilasha Cushing, who was born in St.Louis, Missouri in 1948 as the sixth child of what she describes as 'a dirt poor family of share-croppers'. This is her extremely revealing and moving memoir about growing up in Eads, Tennessee. This often moving memoir, which is not without touches of humor, reveals a life in the South in the 1960s which in many ways had not changed greatly for at least two generations.
