Every year the best new fiction in Canada makes it on to the ScotiaBank Giller Prize long list, twelve books this year.

Six of those books make it to the short list and the winner of the $100,000 prize is announced at a banquet in November.

The winning novel this year was Reproduction by Ian Williams.
