Hour 1
Late last night the Mets came to an agreement with Juan Soto: 15 years, $765 million. We reacted to the contract and what the Yankees offered. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with audio surrounding the Mets agreement with Juan Soto. Evan, Sal, Hoffman and Positive Tommy were doing a Rico Brogna podcast when news broke. Sal screamed then they all screamed. Actor Nick Turturro was pissed at Soto and Shaun Morash said he wanted to cry. The Jets lost to the Dolphins in OT as they let them go right down the field on the first possession of OT. The Giants lost after their game tying FG attempt was blocked. Even Bob Papa had to laugh while making the call. The Chiefs escaped with another last second FG win, beating the Chargers. In the final segment of the hour, we took calls from Mets and Yankees fans on the Juan Soto news. Yankees fans think Mets fans are going to be annoying.
Hour 2
Juan Soto is in agreement with the Mets and we talked about his 15-year contract and the opt-out 5 years in. A caller wonders what the return on investment needs to be in order for it to work out for the Mets. Howie Rose and Gary Cohen commented on how huge this is in Mets history. A caller wonders about Aaron Judge’s protection in the lineup now. Maybe Soto wanted to be the face of the franchise and with Judge there he is not. Jerry is here for another update and starts with Juan Soto from right after the World Series saying he is available for all teams. Mike Francesa said this is now the Steve Cohen Mets and said something about flying donkeys. On Friday night, Jon Heyman was with Keith McPherson on WFAN and things turned ugly and it was dissected on social media. We have the clip where it all went wrong. The Giants lost again at home and someone flew a plane over the stadium with a message for John Mara to ‘fix this dumpster fire’. Boomer said if you want to get the Giants fan back, you have to bring Bill Belichick in. Gio said, to do that, the Giants will have to be in a position to draft a QB Belichick likes. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with audio surrounding the Mets reaching an agreement with Juan Soto.
