*Welcome to the first episode of a series we call "Booster Club!" Interviews with people who are not Show Choir Professionals, but who are adjacent or do the type of work that supports show choir. You know, like a BOOSTER CLUB!
Carla Hardy is the head choir director at a large high school in the Dallas Metropolitan Area (DFW). She was Jostens Renaissance Educator of the Year in 2018 - an honor bestowed on teachers who have mastered student leadership, and culture/climate in their classroom and on their campus. Carla has also walked though a huge life and career change in the last two years due to her husband's diagnosis (or as she will tell you, lack thereof); her perspective and spirit of joy is just what we as educators need right now! Jen and Carla talk about the future of choir in a possible non-singing context and how to create a learning environment that is valuable, even without competitions and concerts. A very important conversation for all of us to be a part of us in this crazy time - but don't worry, there are plenty of the lighter moments you come to expect from PTTC Podcast as well! :)
