Good Lessons
This book has some good lessons about attitude and how you can change it as well as about being patient. Boris, while visiting his grandfather on an estate is bored until his grandfather teaches him chess. Boris does well at chess. The wizard who controls the chess board and pieces where the faeries and his friend are being held captive challenges Boris to a chess game to win their freedom. Is Boris able to win this most important chess game? The story unfolds quickly and smoothly, as the reader learns how important it can be to remain patient and how events and actions can quickly change a boring day/trip into an exciting one, as long as the individual has an openness (or open attitude) for changes. I enjoyed reading the book, and plan to read it again with my young granddaughter. I think the message is clearly, nicely and well done in the book, and readers will all benefit from reading it. I highly recommend it. I received this from Library Thing to read and review.
