The Michael Bay films were box office hits but only seemed to grow sour with the audience more and more over time, and did no favors for the Bumblebee spinoff or the first Bay-less live action attempt with Rise of the Beasts. Then, for the first time since the eighties, an animated film hit theaters last year. Despite its poor marketing and box office flop, it has become a cult classic among fans, and definitely amongst us. So, how does it hold up one year later? Disappointing endings to Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed. The end of the world itself. But only one movie in particular marked both the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Back in the day, nothing like today's film could ever be conceivable in terms of pulling off, but somehow they did it. So, does the movie that changed the game of blockbuster filmmaking hold up? "I HAD A DATE."

With the road to Avengers all but cleared, there was one character left to introduce before the biggest crossover movie of all time -- the leader. Captain America never tried his hand again at the silver screen after the disaster that was the 1990 film, and getting this new attempt off the ground had its own share of troubles. In spite of all that, the movie finally got made, and even though it was received with lukewarm reactions, it's certainly garnered a lot of love over time. So, how is it now, looking back? AKA ODIN GETS CRITICIZED ONCE AND DIES.

Lukewarm off the heels of The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, Marvel's path towards The Avengers got a little rocky. The film was delayed by a year, and they had to hunker down on their last two establishing films beforehand. First up was the God of Thunder, arguably their biggest dice roll in casting then-unknowns Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. The end result was a film that, while not entirely lightning in a bottle, captured audiences in ways they wouldn't entirely realize until the year after. So, how does it hold up? After the shock success of Iron Man, Marvel quickly put a sequel into production. Problem was, between their acquisition by Disney, their planned roadmap, and a non-negotiable May 2010 release date, this was a project doomed to be rushed, disjointed, and interfered with. However, is it really as messy as everyone says it is? WOW, LOOK! NOTHING!

In the very, VERY early days of the MCU, Kevin was trying to get the various studios that had the rights to Marvel's biggest characters to cooperate with him and Marvel Studios in building his interconnected universe. One that seemed to join him at the start was Universal, as the two worked together to create a new Hulk movie. While nothing seemed to really go wrong, one could say it's clear from the final product why they haven't come together again. So, come join Brian and Alec as they continue Phase 1 of the MCUathon with the often-forgotten follow-up to Iron Man -- THE INCREDIBLE HULK!

The next Avengers film is about a year out. We have over thirty films to sift through. Let's get started. Little did we all know this was the movie that launched the most profitable film franchise of all time. The Big Blue Boy Scout's first solo movie in twelve years has been a massive hit, but has proven somewhat divisive amongst fans.
