Boundaries: Drawing the Line - Why They Are So Important to Establish and Maintain, with guest, Mara Vernon, CPCC, PCC, CDTLF

Listen Later

If you've listened to even a few of our podcasts over the last six months, you've probably heard  the topic of "boundaries" pop up more than a few times. On this week’s episode Jamie and Guy invite back Mara Vernon CPCC, PCC, CDTLF to dedicate a full episode on this important topic. Mara explains that boundaries, simply defined, is being clear about "what’s ok and what is not ok" for a person. Jamie added that a boundary can be thought of as “where one person ends and another begins”.  Establishing boundaries requires understanding about what you are feeling and need and being able to communicate that to others.  They discuss the reason boundaries are so difficult (and often uncomfortable) to establish and that the result of not setting boundaries can lead to feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and resentful. In comparison, when boundaries are set you receive the benefits of increased compassion, assertiveness, peace, safety, and respect.
