Connecticut State Sen. Paul Formica, R-20, is disputing reports a bill passed by the Energy and Technology Committee would raise electricity rates. Sen. Formica, co-chair of the committee, said the measure could actually lower rates and save jobs. If the bill eventually becomes law, it would permit Dominion Energy, owner of the Millstone Nuclear Facility in Waterford, to directly bid on five-year energy contracts. But the measure is being opposed by AARP Connecticut, among other groups.
