The relationship between the media and its customers used to be pretty straightforward: Build an audience and sell access to that audience to willing advertisers. It seems that simple model is no longer as relevant in the digital age where everyone with an internet connection is potential publisher and the content being produced is far less likely to come from someone trained in the business.
