General Michael Flynn, Donald Trump's first National Security Advisor. Flynn had twice pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, including admitting he was a paid agent of Turkey, which he failed to disclose even as he participated in highly classified briefings after Trump's election. Barr contradicted his own DOJ's filings in January 2020 that Flynn's lies were material to the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Now Barr has flip-flopped, claiming the DOJ's position is now that it was not a legitimate basis for a counterintelligence investigation.
