To bypass those delays, Special Counsel Jack Smith asked the U.S. Supreme Court to expedite Trump's appeal of a court ruling declaring he does not have immunity from prosecution for crimes committed while in office. In court filings in the federal Jan. 6 case over Trump's efforts to steal the 2020 election, his attorneys bizarrely target progressive Wisconsin journalist and author JOHN NICHOLS of The Nation as a provocateur.
