On today's 'BradCast':  California combats another cycle of wind-driven wildfires, despite decisions by the state's privately-owned, for-profit utility companies to pre-preemptively shut off power customers – in order to avoid liability for failing to maintain their equipment. CA Gov. Gavin Newsom scathingly rebuked those utility companies (Pacific Gas and Electric and SoCal Edison) for placing profits over safety for many years, in what he categorized as "Dog-eat-dog capitalism [and] greed meeting climate change."  Yet another top Trump Administration official, Commerce Sec. Wilbur Ross, is under investigating for using private email accounts to conduct official government business.  Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani is looking for a new criminal attorney as he faces two different federal probes. The average cost of Obamacare premiums is dropping and the health insurance marketplace is apparently stabilizing, in spite of Trump's/Republicans' attempts to sabotage it. A Massachusetts court has temporarily delayed an ill-considered attempt by the state's governor to institute a strict ban on nicotine vaping products, in response to a spate of lung injuries caused by black-market THC/cannabis cartridges, not nicotine. Such bans endanger the lives of an untold number of smokers and former smokers who would be prevented from using life-saving nicotine vapor devices in many states considering similar deadly bans because of irresponsible media coverage that has confused the public by equating safer nicotine vaping (and marijuana vaping, where it is legal and regulated) with the use of contaminated black-market THC vaping devices.
